Stone Meanings

Folklore about stones has been revered and honored for centuries in all cultures. Crystals and gemstones are formed under the earth’s surface and contain many minerals. They are said to synthesize the sun’s energy into healing energy.  Because so many people are interested in the legend and healing properties of gems, some of those are included here (these are the stones I typically work with).

The first gems used to make jewelry included amethyst, rock crystal, amber, garnet, jade, jasper, coral, lapis lazuli, pearl, serpentine, emerald and turquoise. These stones were reserved for the wealthy and served as status symbols. Today, gems are worn not so much to demonstrate wealth as to add to one's joy!
